Just would like to add a note that RTX 2070 Super, jetstream is the same cooler as the 2070, super jetstream

Should put the RVII stock cooler even with or only very slightly above the Vega Frontier Edition. Cooling perf is very similar, both overheat at stock, pretty damn quickly, but behave much better when you undervolt and ramp the fans up. Stock they both hit max temp, 85C for the Vega FE, 115C hotspot for the RVII, then sit there and underclock a bit to avoid breaking that. If anything I'd say the RVII actually gets hotter due to how hot it lets the hotspot get and how hot it will stay even with fans ramped up pretty hard. If you don't undervolt you'll be sitting at around 105-110C hotspot under full load with a decent fan profile.

I'd like to ask a question.

 

I did not know, that Asrock actually offers NVIDIA cards. Yet, under RTX20xx-16xx range, there is Asrock ranked. I assume, it's a mis-type?

 

Palit StormX (and thus, Gainward Pegasos) cards are ranked low-end, insufficient cooling. Yet, in reviews, they do not tend to heat up too much. And as far as I am aware of, their heatsink is decent enough to make sure, one FAN is enough for keeping them cool.

 

Here are reviews of the StormX 1660Ti

Bit Tech : take a look at the temperatures chart.

Hexus: good temps, albeit, loud

Guru3D article, cooling is very efficient.

Costumer reviews: one states, that they are not loud at all, the other mentions, that temperature never went above 65degrees of celsius.

 

I thus regard these small little mini-cards as decent enough solutions, esp. for small cases. Oh, and they are among the cheapest available 1660-1660Ti cards :) I'm pretty sure I'd be able to find evidence for Phoenix GS models being more decent than thought. One buddy of mine, who tested MSI Gaming Z 2060& Phoenix cards regard the two as equally effective, though Gainward lacks passive mode. And he had good opinion about the cheaper "Ghost OC" variants as well. I'll search for any evidence, I guess.

Thank you! I'm hunting for Gainward Phoenix RTX2060 reviews as well.

 

Here, they praise the cooling and performance. Review in German

Swedish: Looks good to me, at least, the heat readings. A bit noisy though

 

And onto some user reviews:

Two reviews by buyers in my country (these gainward Phenix cards are very popular, due to their reasonably low prices...)

One reviewer found, that the card barely gets above 67 celsius during FURMARK with only 58% fan speed. This RPM is barely audible

One of the commenters reviewed Phoenix GS, he had ~54 celsius after hours of gaming (farcry newdawn, 1440p highest settings) . Fan speed was ~41%. He also mentions, that, boosted up to 2010Mhz, not to the advertized 1830Mhz, without tinkering with anything.

 

Generally, I have the impression, that the Phoenix GS is roughly the same level as MSI GamingZed, and certainly deserves to be recommended for the cost-conscious. (sorry for promoting them, they are just very popular locally).

there's an automatic switch in gtx 1000 or higher to throttle down automatically when furmark is detected, so i have less thrust in them personally

Thanks. I was not aware of this.

Still, the two reviews by the German and Swedish site looks good enough. And the gaming results as well. I'll look up tests for other popular models, just out of curiosity. : ) 

 

btw, gamers nexus reviewed the XFX Thicc 5700xt card, and.. Terrible. But really .

i have to update that according to cooler more, as i mostly placed that based off the pcb, thinking asus can't fuck up with 60a infineons

I disagree putting the Gigabyte RTX 2070 super Gaming OC in the C Midrange category with the claim it has a "midrange cooler". The cooler is definitely high-end, so if you insist on keeping it in that category at least please correct the cooling despription for that specific card.

Why combine PCB tier list and Cooler tier list together?

Great PCB ≠ Great cooler, e.g. MSI 1080 ti Armor.

 

Edit: You might want to move TUF x3 to lowest tier, it performs worse than reference cooler.

due to some discount coupons, I've ordered a Gainward Ghost GTX1660Super, which came out at 250USD. Will get it next week, and I'll be tinkering it to see, whether I can undervolt it-power limit it to 110-105watts, and, how much overclocking headroom will it have on stock voltage-power settings.

 

I'll also check the temperatures, and will report back with the data. I'm guessing, it should be a good mid-entry lvl card, perfectly fine for it's price (compared to MSI GPU-s, Gainward stuff is vastly more affordable...)
