Graphics Card (Cooling/VRM) Tier List (Navi Update)

Nice! I didn't notice there was a list for this till now.

You might want to have separate entries for coolers like the Poseidon for air and liquid. https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/asus-rog-geforce-gtx-1080-ti-poseidon-review,9.html

I have two questions, regarding gpus & cooling.

How would you rate the manli gallardo rtx2060 compared to gainward Phoenix?  These two are the cheapest around here, but the manli reviews are mixed so far. Is the Phoenix superior in cooling to ventus by msi?

And as a resort, is it worth to slightly undervolt rtx cards to reduce heat with cheaper models?  Thanks in advance for the assistance

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

there's little to find about it... so i'd call it a win for the phoenix based on that. gainward is part of palit.

the other two are a little loud, but cool decent enough. ventus kinda is a replacement for the old armor, just not AS bad

Thank you! Then the Phoenix is currently probably the best buy around here. GW is a part of palit? Good to know, though Palit cards are cheap as well.

I'm hearing stuff about the Strix cooler on the Vega 64 being "trash." And heard the Powercolor Red Dragon is on the higher end...?

I see that Vega is listed among the cards that apply to this list, but is there a reference specific to the Vega series that addresses these specific duds?

(Or can anyone debunk the rumors?)

i haven't heard about powercolor being on the higher end, but did hear about the vrm overheating recently

will fix the strix part, but would appreciate if you have some data for the powercolor

All I have is hearsay. I've got a Red Dragon 580, and it certainly isn't high end lol.

Where would the 16 series EVGA XC Ultra go? Just got it today, it seems pretty good. Turbo+slight manual OC got it to 2105mhz core in Firestrike and temps maxed out at 61 degrees.

xc ultra is currently in the tier a, and it deserves to be there imo

The XC Ultra on 20 series cards is thicker than the 16 series, 2 slot vs 2.75 slot. The 1660 XC Ultra looks like the same cooler as the XC Black 2070 or 2080 but without a backplate?

true, but both perform exceptional in their class, so they should deserve it

Yes, 61 degrees with a very high clock speed is quite remarkable. Even better is that it was only 289 CAD (215 USD).

Is there something like reasonable price increase per cooler tier? Because around here, the difference between ASUS Dual and Strix is about 200 euros in case of RTX 2080. Now I can clearly see that the Strix cooler is way better than the Dual one and if the difference was like 50 euros, I would not even ask, but like this, I am just not sure if it can be justified. Thanks

D tier reporting for duty.

No regrets.

The reference PCB is actually quite good compared to some of the AIBs.
