You can identify the protection IC from the photos?

I couldn't find it, but the supervisor IC alone isn't enough to tell you if the protections work.

Why? ?

Because it's subjective and has inconsistent sorting methodology.

Depending on a person's situation they may value different traits of the PSU.

Then how can you guess the protections? :D

If I understand correctly, each model of supervisor IC allows for certain protection features, and you can know which ones the PSU doesn't have if the supervisor doesn't support them.

However you can buy a supervisor that supports some features and not enable them, not include the necessary components for them.

Someone more knowledgeable can answer this better though.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

That was in response to Rexper's original comment, when he stated that he could guess the protections the PSU had, while not knowing what the supervisor IC was. But by now I'm probably beating a dead horse.

Also the PSU can have protections that the IC doesn't support. For example, OEMs get an IC that doesn't support OTP but they integrate it via the fan controller.

more than sufficient here, no need for much headroom in my opinion

Why would you care about the efficiency...? You're fine.

EVGA G2 750W ok PSU? I can get it for 70€, around 1.5 yr old.

Don't buy a used PSU. If you need anywhere near 750W, spending even €250 on a PSU shouldn't be an issue. If spending a lot of money on a PSU is an issue, you don't need anywhere near 750W.

I hear that a lot, wonder why is the issue? What do people do with older ones, then? Threw them away?

With active 8+ yrs warranty?

Warranties are generally not transferrable at all. For G2 750W, the second hand warranty is 3 years from the original purchase from EVGA or an authorised reseller. So if the product is 2 years old, you get a one year warranty.

You don't know how the product has been used when you buy used. For all you know, someone could have been mining on it with an 850W ASIC at 45°C ambient 24/7.

And again, why would you want to buy a used 750W PSU?

I cannot believe the sheer amount of disrespect y'all are putting on the Seasonic S12 / M12 series. I have used them exclusively for years now building PC's and have had 0 issues. My most recent build had a M12II Evo 520W powering an i9-9900k, a 1080 ti, 3 ssds, 5 fans, rgb led lighting strips, etc. just fine with absolutely no issues. I have multiple friends with similar builds and the same PSU with no issues. I have built several machines with these power supplies during my previous time of employment at a computer repair shop. 0 issues. I've had nothing bad to say about their power supplies whatsoever.

/rant

But seriously, downgrading PSU's entire tiers because of a fan bearing type or type of internal cabling or external cabling is just plain moronic. It's showing new PC builders that you need to have a $100+ power supply to get your computer powered effectively. Which is simply not true.

I'm not an engineer but damn it when I use a product and its been good to me time and time again, I will continue to use and even recommend the product.

I have been trying to tell them that for a month now.  It's dead reliable.  The AK47 of power supplies. Before it was a budget PSU, it was the unit you purchased to power SLI, Crossfire, Pentium EE systems, overclocked Thuban X6,  Overclocked Core 2 Duo's and Core I7's, overclocked Bulldozer FX chips, and everything in between, all of which drew a LOT more power than today's systems do. That's where its stellar reputation came from.  Powering hard core gaming machines for over a decade and powering them reliably, just like it does today. You can't fake that kind of performance or reputation. It may not be the best PSU anymore, but it's damn reliable. Most veterans know that already.   I suspect the problem on this board is a large number of posters in their teens and early 20's who know nothing about it.

There are better options than BQ PP11. At least in my country, you can get Bitfenix WhisperM cheaper, Corsair TXM cheaper, SeaSonic Core GM cheaper, than PP11.

Location? Budget?

Life is really challenging. I don't always suceed: )

i don't do that

i tiered it down because it's a 9 year old platform, uses group regulation, lacks 12v undervoltage protection and I'm seriously concerned about your 5v rail with that config

where did you even conclude that from?
