It should be the same general design and similar parts; higher wattage probably means the components can take that same 110V+ @ <1A input and convert it to a higher watt DC output.

Thanks. I ultimately went with a Corsair RM650X.

Which tier would EVGA Super NOVA 650 GM SFX power supplies fall in to?

On the current one, tier A. Keep in mind that the current one is also bad

Luke and some other people are making a new revision which should be much better, the GM is similar to GQ or G1+ i believe so either the same tier as Corsair CX or a tier below.

Yeah a bit below Corsair CX 2017, more like Corsair CXM 2016 series, an uninteresting PSU. There is no market for a PSU like this.

Hi guys,

why do psus with more than 650w on a single rail can't rank above A?

Thanks

Because they lack multi rail OCP. For the highest end PSUs, we expect them to at least have all the commonly available protections.

because if undervoltage protection would fail, it'll pump full (120-140% advertised wattage) through the cables, which is likely to melt them

it's not that likely, but can happen

Thanks @seon123 and @LukeSavenije.

I currently own a 1000w RMx unit that i've bought at a good price. I got this oversized one in particular because it runs in passive mode under 400w, and since my PC is next to my bed (and is often kept running during the night) i greatly value the absolute silence i get.

Since it's being run so much lower that it's spec (around 330ish W at load) should i worry about it?

Multi rail OCP matters when things go wrong. Just like with any other protection. Should be fine

Corsair CX450M/CX550M/CX650M launched in 2016.

Same goes for the CX750M and CX850M with black/white label, but with those not much changed compared to the green label ones. Just some upgraded components, it's not a totally different power supply.

corsair seems to register them as cxm 2015 and 2017 though

Apologies if this is already talked about (I have no idea how to search keywords on the forums), but is the Phanteks Revolt X 1200W any good? They're made in partnership with Seasonic and they're very interesting PSU since they can combine with other PSUs.

EDIT: The Revolt Pro is the PSU that can combine, not the Revolt X.

it's pretty much a prime plus made for dual systems

I'm sorry, I actually got them mixed up. The Revolt X splits power between two motherboards, the Revolt Pro is the stackable PSU. I meant to ask about the Revolt Pro 1000W, although I'm guessing they're both essentially Seasonic Primes.

What is the point of the Phanteks Revolt X?

Looking at back, it appears System 2 only gets a 24pin and 8pin power. You cannot run this as like an always-on NAS.

it would make sense to, at least as far as i know the revolt isn't a focus. the amp likely is though

i don't have any hands on, but in theory the other connectors should have no problem connecting to, without both being turned on

but it would make it... confusing, but in theory possible

you sure he isnt reffering to the focus GX and focus PX. shorted to FGX and FPX?

those are waiting for reviews, but the issues to original focus appear to have been fixed. still waiting for confirmation.

You need to add Seasonic PX and GX models

you reffering to the 2019 revision of the focus lineup that finally fixes the focus? (probably, waiting for reviews i believe)

Check the link. GX and PX are used for both the Focus and Prime. E.g. Focus FX and Prime GX.

they are not the same however.

branding has changed with the 2019 revision. Focus GX is the 2019 revision of the focus plus gold.

supposedly fixing the issues that have plagued the PSU.

unless they are also rebranding their old PSUs allready in market, which i have not doublechecked.

edit: sorry, apperantly its not FGX but just GX for focus plus gold rev 2019. its focus GX
