Lenovo IP520 M.2 SSD support?

Go to solution Solved by Schakal_No1,

It seems like this model does not have M.2: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-1xx-3xx-5xx-7xx/Lenovo-Ideapad-520-151KB-Missing-M-2-slot-on-motherboard/td-p/4163838

If you want to replace the optical drive with a ssd you could, it depends what you need more. I did so in my thinkpad since I hardly ever use optical media and it works fine.

Hello
i bought this laptop (lenovo  ip 520- 5ikb type 81bf) and i couldn't find a way of checking for m.2 support
if not, do you guys recommend replacing the optical driver with ssd sata?

thanks

shit..

i only use my optical driver when i press the button by mistake xD
i meant in a long term or compatibility speed...etc

do you recommend this change? any SSDs recommended for this laptop?

edit:

replacing my HDD with SSD, then moving the HDD to replace the optical driver, maybe better?

if you do not use your optical disk then yes, I recommend this. Which SSD you get is not specific to this laptop. Any SATA-SSD will work. How much disk space you need, how reliable the data should be and how fast it should be all are dependent on which to get. Not the laptop model.
