Wait for navi or buy rtx 2060?

Remikp04

Gonna be upgrading to 1440p/144hz hopefully in about a month and have a 1060 6gb. So idk if I should just wait for navi to upgrade monitor and gpu, or if I should just buy rtx 2060 and monitor now

And I'd get metro exodus free which I really want.

neither Navi or an RTX 2060 would be a worthy upgrade from a GTX 1060, go with an RTX 2070 instead.

Bro it's at least 30% better. Rtx 2070 is 30% more price and is not 30% faster like ever. It's horrible, much rather save 150 and put towards better monitor or some new ram and rtx 2060 is plenty for 1440p ultra 60fps and competitive games at 144fps.

you're gonna pay 350$ for 30%? that doesn't sound like a good deal to me, but it's up to you really, but to put things into perspective, 60 FPS * 1.3 = 78 FPS.

I don't consider anything below the RTX 2080 to be 1440p 144Hz worthy

I'm not gonna be playing AAA games on that. Just 1440p 60fps. I want the 144fps for like rainbow 6 and overwatch, csgo, fortnite, ect.

I still think the RTX 2060 is not worthy of an upgrade compared to a GTX 1060, but if you can't pay for an RTX 2070, then wait for Navi and see what it has to offer but prepared to be disappointed because AMD isn't doing too well in the GPU department.

Yeah true they aren't doing too well in gpus. And I think 53% upgrade is worth it tbh but that's just me.

My rule of thumb is if I wanna upgrade it better be atleast double the performance or close to it, but I fully understand your situation since it took Nvidia 3 years to release something and they under-delivered in terms of performance considering the wait, and the prices are higher, so you really have no choice at this point.

Yeah, and I cba waiting a few months to be disappointed again by amd. Also, I would buy metro exodus anyway so technically I'm getting the gpu for 300 since the game is free.

also forgot to add there's nothing wrong with buying a used GTX 1080, you can probably get them for cheap and that's a much better upgrade than an RTX 2060 and they're probably be cheaper too, if you can find it for less than 350$ ofc but if not then just get an RTX 2060

I'd rather have Vega 56's 3 games... that's just me. Devil May Cry 5 is just too attractive.

Agree on this, good reason to side grade to AMD is simply for those sexy 3 games.

Stinkpci5 3550. DDR3 1600mhz 8GB. Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3.0. Sapphire RX 570 Nitro 4GB oc. Noctua NH-L12. WD Black 600GB. Silverstone PSU 1KW. Advent 1440x900 75hz VGA monitor 1ms. Acer Veriton M464 chassis.

Self help guide.

Since you already have a somewhat OKish Card, I'd wait for NAVI.

Or at least until the 50th Anniversary event from AMD.

Another thing to keep in mind:
There are already some games that eat VRAM for breakfast.

Wich is why RTX2080 craps out in Geothermal Valley Benchmarks -> not enough VRAM.

And paying like 700€ for a GPU with the same VRAM as a 150€ Card? RLY?

So I need a gpu with 8gb+ vram? Mate I'd have to get a gtx 1080ti then?

Whens the 50th anniversary event? Because tbh I feel like navi will be yet another let down from amd. Their cpus are amazing, but gpus not so much.

Depends on what you mean with need?

And there is a trick to avoiding that. Problem is: AMD "invented" it and to make it worse, its only on VEGA right now.

So not that far away...

Problem is:
Nobody buys AMD GPUs.

Without people buying it, they don't have money.

Without Money they can't do awesome products

See the Problem?

Anyway, from what is rumored, the smaller Navi coming should be around 2070 performance, some say 2080.

And there was a retape, so 3 Months later (Original plan might have been this month).
