Hit up all the "Goodwill", "Saver's", "Salvation Army" or whatever local equivalent 2nd hand donation store you have around you.  Finding a PC 5.1 speaker system in good working order will be tough but finding a Surround Sound Stereo Tuner with HDMI or optical/SPDIF in will be easier.  Then just hunt for decent speakers.  Finding a good powered subwoofer will be hardest of all but in the end, you'll have spent between $10-$50 and have a system that shakes the roof as opposed to some wankey PC 5.1 that costs a couple hundo.

If you could only buy these, get the edifiers.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

why  you believe  that  https://www.edifier.com/int/en/speakers/s760d-5.1-gaming-speakers is   better  from  these 2? https://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/speaker-system-z906 and

Logitech has no tweeters, so treble will be a big ol' MEH. And the microlabs will just sound muddy.. and they're only 65 watts. And you shouldnt really use RCA for speaker level signals.

Positives - the satellite's have tweeters, thus the woofers dont have to be full range and thus the tweeters can handle the high frequencies - also a 10 inch subwoofer with twin radiators, so will provide alot of bass for its size. Also comes with a remote which is a nice touch.

Negatives- Obviously it wont be audiophile quality just due to its price bracket and size, also construction. The wired remote looks a little tacky, and the centre channel might be awkward to place depending on your setup. Also has RCA in, not 3.5mm so you would have to buy 2x 1 3.5mm to dual RCA adapters to get true, uncompressed 5.1 audio (the toslink/optical connector will provide 5.1 audio but it has to be compressed unfortunatley.

my subwoofer costs more than that entire kit.

I'm using my home theater 7.1 setup with my main PC. No reason to buy a set of small crappy speakers when there's already a pretty solid  full system sitting here otherwise unused.

I agree with the use of a home theater for pc. 15.2.5 for me rn lol (denon x8500h avr) and what sub you got? I'm currently using 2 svs sb 2000's for the main setup then a Pb 2000 for downstairs (my mum uses it with two floorstanders by yamaha, my setup is in my bedroom lol)

I'm using only a single HSU VTF-15h Mk2. My man cave is about 12 x 24 x 8 and when balanced with the rest of the system (5 Yamaha NS-777 towers, 2 NS-333 bookshelves, RX-A1030 avr) the sub volume is about 15% and still shakes the entire house

That sub actually looks really nice. Might have to look into something from HSU for my audiophile stereo setup :D
