It's far from outdated, it's a great card for 1440p high framerate, and 4K with lower framerate.

1080ti performs similarly to RTX2080.

by no means is it outdated, its still ideal for 1440p high framerate and able to do 4k if your willing to lower some settings or a sub 60 fps.

It's realistically still the 2nd best gaming card on the market since it's tied up with the RTX 2080.

Only the 2080 Ti outperforms it really, Vega 7 still fall a little bit short in comparison.

TITAN cards aren't real products, don't pay 110% more expensively for 3% more performance please.

Technically speaking, yes, it's outdated.

Being outdated doesn't mean jack shit. The 4790K is outdated and it's still highly viable for most people.

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

Why would you think that?  Curious what the uninformed think about the RTX launch and it's effect on previous gen.

It is only outdated if you are into RTX raytracing.

I have been adding lighting effects in games for a long time. Mainly adding mods that can take up to 2/3 of the frame rate. My hardware is to run these effects. Not high frame rate.

A GTX 980 ti is still relevant because its performance equals a GTX 1070 and the 1070 equals the 1660 ti. The 1080 equal the 2070 and the 1080 ti equals the 2080. The only card without an equil is the 2080 ti.

In the tests that I have done with my RTX 2080 ti I know that it is the only card for ray tracing at higher than 1080p and even with it RT settings will be on low.

If you are not buying a RTX 2080 ti, RTX is irrelevant as far as I am concerned.

If you don't care about the RTX feature, a 1080Ti is a very viable card, and it has more VRAM than the 2080.

And just because the 2080Ti and Titan is faster doesn't mean the 1080Ti is outdated lol.

I'm running an HD7950........ So........ And it still for the most part does what I need. It's only out dated if it can't handle what you throw at it.

It's outdated if it's out of date. Products that have been replaced are out of date.

Being outdated or not means nothing when it comes to usability.

Well that's one definition. Another way to define it is "no longer valid or relevant" which doesn't hold true for the 1080ti as it is absolutely a valid option and it is absolutely relevant in the discussion of high end video cards.

TLDR: It's been replaced, so if that's what you mean by outdated then yes it is. That said it's still the 3rd best video card on the market by a very narrow margin (<5% slower than 2080) and it's still a screamer, so yeah it's worth considering.

That would be obsolete, not outdated.
