Good budget cpu with gtx1070oc in 2019?

I have:

• 8gb ram
• gigabyte 1070 windmaker V2.0 oc 8gb
• intel pentium g4560 Kaby Lake

My cpu bottlenecks my gpu, so I need a better gpu. I already have a decebt gpu so i figured i dont need the best cpu. But wich one to buy? It should handle games like fortnite and stuff with ez. Thanks in advice

8400 or ryzen 2600 , good value for the money.

In general I would say an ryzen 1600 or 2600 or similar, but you would have to by an new motherboard so an 8400 would be the cheaper option.

 

What motherboard do you have?

 

EDIT: Your motherboard for an pentium G4560 Kaby lake is not kompatible with an coffee lake CPU as I suggested.

 

With that I would recommen buying a Ryzen 2600 with an motherboard that fits that CPU

What's the budget? You could probably just pick an i5 or i7 from the kaby lake line-up:

You'll see motherboards with the naming scheme B150, B250, Z170, Z270, etc. These are the chipsets, knowing this will tell you what CPUs your motherboard supports.

Considering you said you have a G4560, no you cannot. You would need a B360 motherboard or better.

Edit: Also no, that cpu would not bottleneck your gpu

A used i7 6700 non k model, and i7 7700 non k model come to mind,..

If compatible and cheap enough to be worthwhile.

And 16GB RAM for Gaming chasing High or Ultra with a 1070 and Highfps, games just use more.

The 4790k+2600MhzRAM I have at 4.6Ghz would near be identical in games as the CPUs above yet provides full gpu usage in all but badly made or 6 to 8thread heavy games where it may infrequently drop a GPU like a GTX1070 into mid90% usage and rise back up to 99-100% again relatively instantly.  Chasing 120hz is easy, but 144+ may require a beast for holding minfps values.

 

For the Most part, today,.4c8t decent clockspeeds with a uppermidrange GPU. Its actually brilliant in a majority of games, not a minority. That's just at 1080p where CPU demands are higher than 1440p due to less overall requests for HIGHFPS averages while holding similar Drawcalls.

 

Go 8 Threads, and you'll be sweet,.

Or invest to the next level with a new platform and higher core/thread counts is also a good move.
