Pretty nice. Small ITX is still so scary for me, I would never feel good if I go itx and have standard lenght cables.

I just hope you do use that i7 well enough tho. Your build seems a little unbalanced. If this is for only gaming, wich this motherboard screams kinda.. You could've maybe gotton an 780 if this was build in the last few months.

I already had the GPU and had no reason tp upgrade it when i got the CPU and Mobo. I'm going to order some supplies to make shorter cables and some sleeving soon to help pretty up the inside of the case a little bit

Not really, the psu allows him to put any GPU in it, for the future, if it was like 1000w then yes it would be overkill.

There was a build log on sweclockers about a guy building a node 304 with a 690 / 4770k, dat heat output from that tiny pc.

One of the best Mitx chassis in my opinion besides the node 304, but the node doesnt support extended PSU's with long graphic cards so I went with the elite 130

It is overkill as no graphics card ever will draw over 600w, unless we teleport back to GTX 590 / 6990 and overclocks.

It does but it takes a shitload of cable ties to get it to work ;).

7990 use a fair amount and we don't know what cards will be in the future,

the thing i was pointing out is that we are moving forward in technology not backwards.

6990 draws more power then a 7990 any day of the week.

I already had the Hx750 when i moved over to Mitx, and its not like its some super overkill 1000w or anything. It's a really nice PSU that i wont have to upgrade for a really long time.

I agree if you already had it prior to the miTX build.

Elite 130 compared to a standard ATX Mobo, i wonder if anyone had modded one of these into this case.

6990 draws more power then a 7990 any day of the week.

And the R9 290X consumes as much power as, if not slightly more than, the GTX 480.

Yet it's newer.

power_peak.gifpower_peak.gif

A 750 watt power supply isn't overkill, especially if they come out with a dual R9 290X card which isn't all that unlikely.

and the HD 6990 actually draws less power than the HD 7990,though only marginally.

If they managed to make a dual GPU card that draws 600w then they will never be able to cool it with a 2 slot cooler, making it irrelevant for mitx enclosure. so back to square one.

Regarding the 6990 drawing less then 7990 i took data from my own mining rig which draws about 320w per card and the 7990 made by Powercolor which i had prior that drew 310w

It doesn't have to use 600 watts.

I would say something closer to 400-450 watts with the rest of the system using ~100-150 watts.

At the point where at max power consumption it can use 600 watts you'd want a 750 watt power supply.

And last time I checked gigabyte makes a heatsink that they've claimed and shown to be able to dissipate 450 watts of heat.

Not sure about any other manufacturer claiming their heatsink being able to dissipate 400+ watts though.

And assuming that one is released there'd likely be a waterblock for it,or an aftermarket card with a waterblock pre-installed.

As to your personal experience with those cards, each piece of silicone is different, you might've gotten an HD 7990 with a better ASIC than the HD 6990.
