Would a Ryzen 7 1700 bottleneck a Radeon VII?

Kibbz
Go to solution Solved by GamerDude,

I have a Radeon VII (7 or Vega II?) with my trusty i7 4770K, and coincidentally, and an Acer XR341CK which does 75Hz as well. Even graphically intensive games like Metro Exodus and Strange Brigade run beautifully. UT3 at 200fps-300fps is a breeze with no tearing at all. So, relax and don't worry about it....

I'm thinking of selling my 2nd pc and buying a Radeon VII, but I dont know if my Ryzen 7 1700 would bottleneck it. Will it?

Eh, what games are you looking to play?

Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends, Resident Evil 2, Skyrim, these are the ones I play the most.

Yeah, you'll be fine with the 1700 and the Radeon VII. That VRAM will definitely help if you're going to do Skyrim with a bunch of texture mods.

Also, I'll be going to start working on my future (3D modelling and animation) and I tought the Radeon VII would be a good card that I wouldn't have to upgrade in the near future

Im thinking of buying the AOC Q3279VWFD8 (31.5" 1440p 75hz monitor with FreeSync) https://eu.aoc.com/en/products/q3279vwfd8, so it would be 1440P.

probably not at 75hz, i draw the line at 80 for zen 1 and 90 for zen + for even the most intensive games.

You should be able to maintain 75fps min i think. I hope that processor is overclocked though because stock speed is not great for games that prefer single core ipc.

Overclocked to 3.6 ghz right now, and after I get my new AIO (Corsair H100i Pro) i'll OC it to 3.8, or 3.9 if I can without raising the voltage much.

I think its a play on Vega II, which looks like 7. But thanks for the help, and I'll see if at the end of this month the card is still available.
