Not showing improved RAM speed after upgrade

Go to solution Solved by a99007,

tried going into bios? make sure it shows the right clock speeds

Hi,

I just upgraded my PC's RAM from 8GB (2x4GB) of 2666mhz to 16GB (2x8G) of 3000mhz (both Corsair Vengence). However, while the PC is picking up the increase in capacity to 16GB, it isn't picking up the increase in the clock speed. CPU-Z is showing 1066mhz NB Frequency per stick while task manager is showing 2133mhz for both. I'm guessing that I didn't have the originals set to the max speed now that I'm looking at the difference between the advertised and reported speed.

Thanks for the help,

you need to go into the BIOS and enable DOCP memory profile.

you have to multiply the frequency by x2 (because DDR4 means Dual Data Rate 4). So your current freq is 2132.8 or 2133. Go to your bios and either overclock it to 3000, or enable your XMP profile.

go to bios and enable XMP, that should automatically do the voltages and clock speeds for you
