Dual 144hz setup on 1440p - not for gaming!

Pero44

Hi I need a recommendation for the cheapest GPU that can run dual 144hz monitors but NOT for gaming purposes!! I know its a stupid idea but I have my reasons for it. I have 2x Dell S2717d currently connected to my GTX 550Ti but with HDMI and DVI and that obliviously wont work so I need a recommendation for the cheap GPU that will enable me 144hz on both 2K monitors in just normal desktop enviorment

What I've figured so far:

- need a GPU with 2xDP v1.2 or higher (any other port wont work)

- Nvidia 950 and above can do 1 144hz at 1440p  no problem

I think i could get it with this: Asus GeForce PH-GTX1060-3G, 3GB GDDR5 but just cant get any confirmation on that

Running i5 2500K with 16GB of RAM

Thnx

2k is 2048*1080, not 1440p. But why do you need 1440p 144hz if not for gaming?

Pretty much every GPU (provided it has DP 1.2 ports like you already said) can push that many pixels in desktop applications. But @ThatFlashCat's question is valid, what's the point?

75% of what I say is sarcastic

So is the rest probably

My bad...Its 2560x1440 rez...

For my viewing pleasure :) I just love how it looks and my eye strain si just much less. I have a lot of multitasking going on, scrolling, browsing.....Got the monitors very cheap also. I am aware that its generally stupid idea + its TN panel and all that but please indulge me :)

I do see your point. I'm writing this on one my 60hz displays and it is nothing compared to my 144hz center display.

If you are not going to game, these monitors all suck.  I sawapped out my 12 year old LCD for new IPS to play games.  The only problem is the IPS sucks for Photoshop and other applications.

Better check your facts there. Not only do IPS panels not suck for Photoshop they are in fact recommended for Photoshop as the technology has better color accuracy and such. Also historically IPS panels are not recommended for games as they have higher response time compared to say a TN panel.

You sure that is the correct model number? I can't seem to find that monitor anywhere.

Does DVI even supports 120hz at 1440p? I know it can do 1080p at 144hz, but I allways thought that is pushing the limit of it's capabilities.

But to answer the original question, I don't know for sure but I would guess a 1060 could run windows at 144hz.

Dual link dvi is 2560x1600 @60 hz max. And yes, a 1060 can definitely push that many frames in windows.
