Which v sync should I do right now!

Turtle Rig

Ok I tried in the nv panel to put vsync off ever since I got my new card and it shows high framerate,, but nasty tearing.  If I use the Fast option it will be smooth but I will lose frames.  On this POS 60hz monitor I have,, which when the day the Samsung new 49"  comes out in summer I will pull the trigger knowing darn well it will be 400 dollars cheaper within 6 to 12 months.   Right now I have it set to let application decide and I turn ot off in there.  Frame rate is fine, and this POS mon does more motion blur then tony danza after 2 tequila shots.

My future Sammy will have freesync 2 so that means its as good as g-sync ?  Or its different technology for both and accomplish the same thing ?  Shouldn't there be a patent on this stuff so nVidia cant do it as well ?  Can't AMD then steal  gsync and say our video cards are compatible with G-sync monitors.

Always prioritize smoothness of frames over high fps, because why we're enjoying high frame rates with tearings when we can get a smooth lower frame rates to treat our eye?

Ya my monitor has the worst motion blur ever.  So even on FAST option I just see a blur with no tears.  Leaving it to application and setting vsync off in game,, yields soo much more FPS.  I hope when I get my gaming monitor setting it to 120hz of 144hz doesnt downgrade the performance ?

if your monitor is capped at 60hz, then use vsync. or if you can overclock your monitor a bit up to 74hz, which is your only option if you're not getting a 120 or 144 hz monitor. for your question about the 120-144 hz, if your system can push frames more than 60, you don't have to worry much about the gaming performance. It will not degrade, but instead it will push your system to what it should actually do.

you're welcome :)

PS. dude, if your signature is real and it says you have a 2080, you should really get a much better monitor for that. IF your GPU only speaks to you, probably he will slap you and say "Am i joke to you?"

LOL why would I lie,  I had a 760 GTX for like 5 or more years then a 1060GB,,,,,,,, and now 2080 RTX      …….  Yes my build is old, but it does the job for me,  I see no reason to upgrade.  With all nvpanel settings set to On, or set to Max , and application contrtollled vsync and in game settings at ultra @ 1440p and I get avg 140fps in Quake Champions which is the most demanding game as far as VRAM usage and it takes up my RAM usage to 17GB total and VRAM usage to 7.8GB  …. Other AAA titles I get 200 +.   Yes my monitor sucks big time.  Im waiting to buy the Samsung 49" QLED 5120x1440 HDR 120Hz.  If it was out right now I would shell down up to 2k for it.  Im a monitor whore... so ya whatever the price I will pay it for the sexy monitor and no more bs tearing and unsmooth game play and motion blur and all that jazz.
