A suggestion to prevent damage via dropping

After watching the latest video (where Linus tries to repair 10k CPU he dropped) I can but wonder, why don't they just install soft mats all around the main build spaces? Like, just put em on the floor around the table, so stuff doesn't break on concrete if it falls down. 

Could get thin yet soft mat like this, would prevent so much potential damage (this one specifically is 3/8 inch):

I imagine that having that kind of flooring will just end up creating more annoyances.

 

1. Hard to clean

2. Possibly annoying to walk on

3. Somewhat expensive to cover their entire office with the stuff

4. Looks like shit

 

Granted, we've seen a couple of epic equipment drops over the years (The AMD system is the big one, and the iMac Pro). But neither of those instances would have been saved by this floor padding. The CPU is just about the only thing that would have been saved, and that was a fluke freak accident.

Magnets. Giant electromagnets. A raspi pie, hooked up to cameras, microphones, lasers and hall sensors. Should anything start to approach 1G, make a sound, or Linus mutter the magic words, the magnets turn on.

 

All the computer equipment will be suspended in the air, safe from dropping. Or slam into the ceiling and explode. But they would not hit the floor!

The CPU is the only thing that would've potentially been saved by that mat. 

Also those mats aren't the first things that come to mind when I think "flooring that could potentially save PC hardware". They're tough as old boots and are horrible to walk on.
