How would you feel about having an Amazon Echo or Google Home in your home?

I dont see a purpose for them to be honest. Yeah there a cool thing but why waste money on something that i can search up? Or do myself.

It's great.  I find them quite useful for playing music, controlling lights, temperature, getting news, using timers/alarms.

I don´t care about spying so I would buy it. However, I just don't see the value of this product.

Google home is much better, however the speakers are not as good

It's convenient if I want to check the weather, look up something simple, call someone, play a song, check the time when I'm too lazy to get my head out of the covers. It do see the reason why people would be sceptical about these things since they are always on and listening, but they do let you see the log of what has been recorded (at least the ones they want you to see).

 

That said, I personally won't buy one, I only have one since it was a gift.

I wouldn't ever get one. I don't really see the point of having one, since I wouldn't really use it. Plus your voice commands are processed on an Amazon/Google server, and while they claim to anonymize the data, I don't trust them, as they do have to make money to cover the cost of the service they are offering.

i have one in my home along with a few chrome cast i ste them up for my disabled mother so she can cast to her tv from mobile or tablet she loves t ask google lots of stuff now too , which saves me soo much tme having to explain stuff to her

They seem pointless.  It's like a screenless non mobile version of my phone.  And I already have a phone.  So what does it do for me?

I have a Google Home Mini in my office, very useful. I don't really mind the possible security implication, as I have nothing to hide.

I don't see the point in owning any of those smart assistant devices, I can get up and control the lights myself or use a wifi enabled light, and I can already use my phone for getting the weather,looking up something,using alarms,or playing music.

I have Siri on my phone, my watch and my computer, why would I need another device with a digital assistant?

i got a google home mini for free through a spotify thing.

its kinda cool, it comes in handy occasionally.   the ability to say "good morning" while im getting ready in the morning, and have it tell me the time, weather forecast, and fastest route to take to work, is kinda nice.

 

dont use it every day, but it does come in handy every once in a while.

 

That being said, if i hadnt gotten it for free, i likely never would have purchased one

Got a mini for free from my ISP, never even plugged it in, it's sitting in a drawer somewhere. 

 

Never once have I thought "would have been nice to say that out loud and get an answer"

I've got three Amazon Alexa devices, two echo dots and a main speaker. They are very useful for controlling all the lights, setting up scenes, arming the security system (You can ONLY arm it, not disarm it), and a bunch of other things when I don't feel like grabbing my phone and whatnot and helps a lot at night so I don't have to have the phone blast my eyes

Aside from privacy concerns, I don't see how they would be anything more than an empty novelty for me. They're not even technically interesting, since none of the important stuff is done on the device itself...

I don't even use the Google assistant on my phone, in fact I flat out disable it, I don't want to see it, don't want to hear it, don't want it in my life.

 

So, No, I wouldn't want a spying device in my home. Most of these IoT devices are ridiculous to me.

My son gave me an echo dot for Christmas, I love to use the announce feature to harass my wife!
