BTW, HP systems are notorious for being shite when it comes to upgrades. I strongly doubt you could drop a Xeon in that sucker and have it POST.

If that did end up happening I would again sell the Xeon after getting it, then prob sell the system and try to save up then get around $200 to make a really cheap and used ryzen system

HP. Custom BIOS. They whitelist what CPUs will work in their systems. You're liable to fry everything if you try.

I haven't to many problem in my life, the worst is dell because they make everything so hard to get to.

I dont believe putting a different CPU into a board will fry everything. Just would not post since their bios wouldn't allow it to post. I will ask my IT Teacher. They work on old systems 24/7

You could always use an aftermarket mobo manufacturers BIOS

Ok. We work with HP systems at work. I've seen HP printers self-destruct because someone put aftermarket toner in, I've seen HP systems fry themselves when non-whitelisted CPUs are inserted. YMMV, just trying to save you some pain. Avoid HP systems like the plague

Then I will keep that CPU in there since it would prob do just fine, when I get the money then buy a different board and the xeon.

yes. you can flash the bios with updates and new code. be careful not to use malware

Assuming a new BIOS exists for the same system. HP does provide details on what the BIOS update does.
