Post Your Battle Stations and Build Setups!

Well here I am again it seems. My matx mobo wasnt cutting it so I had to get an atx board with better VRMs for my new Ryzen 2700. Which also meant I had to get a bigger case and a cooler to be safe. No more 3.4ghz bottleneck I'm now running at 3.9ghz at 1.33v. I'm very new to overclocking and it's too hot where I live to push the cpu any further on this cooler :(

Ryzen 2700

MSI B450 Tomahawk

16gb Corsair 2666 DDR4

Galax GTX1080

Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic

Edit: I forgot to mention that my new cooler doesnt fit in this case.. so the glass is just sorta hanging over it at the moment Not ideal I know but until I can afford better cooling it will have to do. Also the fans are just a mix n match of fans I had from previous cases.

You gotta get a nice AIO in there for that Ryzen 7. What heatsink is that on the CPU?

Recently upgraded from i5 6500 to Ryzen 7 2700x last Wednesday (December 19, 2018).

From assembly, to comparison between the 2 rigs, to installation of the new OS to the new rig, to that blingy thing (didn't activate RGB lol), to my setup itself that could be improved.

Nothing overly fancy about my setup, just 2 aging monitors and an Ikea desk littered with too much carefully collected crap.
Really I just wanted to share a Christmas miracle I did not think possible.

A few weeks ago I happened upon a MSI GTX 1080 Gaming X 8G just sitting on the shelf in my local Memory Express. I was totally shocked because their website has been out of stock for quite some time. I was just about foaming at the mouth in disbelief, 1080s are getting to the point they are just as fabled and more rare than unicorns. It was even more surprising because when I asked the clerk about grabbing it he had mentioned they just sold their last 1080 the other day and it was an Armor, noting he hadn't seen any Gaming X for a while. As it turns out the only reason it was still their was because it didn't show up on their store inventory and was basically forgotten, hiding in plain sight in a sea of 2080s. The manager was kind enough to keep it on hold for me until my next paycheck.

I built her 2 years ago, just before pascal was released. It always irked me that I missed including a 1080 in my build by only a few months.
She may not be the, cleanest, prettiest or fastest rig by today's standards but even before the GPU upgrade she was still rocking +60 FPS in 1080P with an OC MSI 970 Armor.
There will be a day where it will be time to retire her to make way for my next next rig.
But it is not this day.
Today, she is the PC she was always meant to be.

Wireless keyboard, wireless mouse, but I see cords coming down from your monitors!  Does that help with your OCD? ?

No.

Lightning cable, 3.5mm extension and micro-usb.

So yes, it infuriates me every second but what can you do.

that's gotta be one of the cleanes setups on this thread!

where's the PC powering those monitors?

Down by the left. Cables run up a small section of wall in trunking. Some go into the basket work under the desk (along with access points, switches and other shit) some into the wall and up behind the monitors

Few photos of my first ever built rig. Fairly happy with it myself. Cable management I give myself a 7.5 6.5/10.

That's an incredibly clean setup already!

You can hide the cables from the monitors by running the parallel to each other to make them a bit less noticeable. Painting them with some Plasti Dip or similar a color closer to that of the wall will also hlep to make them less noticeable.Running them though a raceway, such as WireMold, that is painted the same color as the wall may also work. A far more drastic solution that will make themm disappear would be to run them through the wall (that may or may not be an option depending on where you live).

Mind the shitty pics, but it's completely dark here by 5PM. Got the 1050Ti for Christmas and installed in my sleeper Dell (ignore the lack of my SSD, I hadn't put it in yet), and aside from the loudass fans at idle I'm super digging it. Also got the Arctis 7 since my old headphones were pretty shrekt and would cut out all the time (and the added mic is super great for gayming with friends).

Specs on the bad lad on profile, of course.

Slightly less bad pic of the ol' sleepy boi. Sucks because I probs won't get to flex the 1050Ti until at least late tomorrow since adding games sucks. Hopefully we have enough data left for the month for me to download FH4 as well because I REALLY want to play that (more than Insurgency Sandstorm and FO4 with the season pass that I've been dying to play, as well as FC5 when friend gets paid on Friday since I'm 4 fuggin dollars short on Steam).

Sweet build! Just one minor suggestion: have your front rad fans as intakes, not exhaust. ;) Your rear fan is exhaust. Keep everything flowing the same direction and kick the warm air from the GPU out the back.
