Two system connected to one monitor??

If I connect two CPU to one monitor simultaneously (for ex. One by VGA and other by HDMI) and boot up both of them, which system would be displayed by the monitor??

Which ever one the monitor defaults to or whatever input its set to.

Usually the one that boots up first. One option you have is get an HDMI selector and just switch between them

Whatever one boots first, or if they're both booted, most monitors will have a order. My Acer goes VGA-DVI-HDMI.

Its an odd setup, never tried it.

HDMI selector is great for switching between system, and cheap.

But for a proper switch between 2 system you need a KVM solution.

KVM stands for Keyboard, Video and Mouse.

One KVM can control multiple cpu, all you have to do is switch between them.

Its some sort of hdmi selector but with mouse and keyboards.

That would be fine if he was doing all VGA but if you're using a cable thats non analog and digital like DVI, HDMI, DP ect you would need a KVM solution that gets quite pricey. Would be better off with a KM solution and just change the inputs on the monitor.

Yes, VGA KVM only goes for $15, where HDMI KVM are $30-50.

If the resolutions is under 1080p the vga can output just fine.

And for most KVM users (system admin) they will happily control a sub 720p res systems.
