RX 480 vs GTX 970

AYDANN6ix9ine

Performance wise, is there any really large noticeable difference between an RX 480 vs GTX 970 for 1080p.

Are these older cards obsolete or they have potential to be good for 1080p for another few years. I have the GTX 970 but wish I got an RX 480. :(:(

You have 970 already there's no need to upgrade to 480..its better but you won't notice a big jump (maybe 5-15FPS in some games)

If you want to upgrade get the 1070 Ti or wait for VEGA II or RTX 2060.

I upgraded from a GTX 970 to the RX 480, and yes, the RX 480 is faster. The main advantage is having 8GB on the RX 480 instead of 3.5GB on the GTX 970.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.

Microsoft Apple Valve Google Facebook Oculus HTC AMD Intel Nvidia

I'm using this data to judge this site's biases so people can post in a more objective way.

What kind of games do you play? If you ever need more than 3.5GB VRAM in a game, the RX 480 8GB will be worlds faster.

If you're VRAM limited I'd advise going for a Vega 56, 64, or the upcoming Radeon VII (pronounced 7)

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.
