need help with QoS and Prioritizing network connects.

LordTumnas

Hello,

My net connection is awful (7 down/0.4 up). And where i live means i cant get any better, so im trying to get the most out of it, i game, and both my housemates stream a lot of videos/movies. im trying to set up QoS, however from reading some other, australian, forums my router doesnt really support QoS (thomson TG782T) however, is it possible to prioritize a whole ethernet connection? Similiar to the way you prioritize the port a game runs off, could you do that to a whole computer by setting the router to prioritize "ethernet_4" for example?

As you can probably see, im a networking noob. So ANY help is appreciated

Thanks, Lordtumnas

You could try but it all depends on how the router prioritises/shapes traffic.

The modem/router combos that you get from your ISP generally do not come feature rich as ISPs will use the most cost effective solution that they can.

Ill have a look to see if i can tomorrow.

This is an isp one. I was thinking about upgrading to an Asus or D-link at some stage anyway
