recommend me X99 CPU+mobo+RAM combo

So, my MSI Z97 G3 crapped out for literally no reason. Was on youtube, suddenly rebooted, and froze on BIOS screen. Shut it off and now it powers on but never completes POST. CPU, GPU, and RAM check out in an OEM HP machine.

I have $500USD.

I was thinking ASUS Sabertooth X79 plus Xeon E5 1650 v2 because I had that combo before and loved it. But X99 is Haswell and Haswell is love.

What do you guys think? X79 is cheaper.

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR NEW PARTS.

Yeah, OP, there's not really a reason to buy old stuff. Plus, it's possible that AMD is announcing their new Zen 2 3000 series of Ryzen so you're going to want to wait for that.

I'd recommed you to wait sir, for Ryzen's news CPU, they will propably realease and 16C/32T CPU. The Max CPU you'll get for an X99 is an 6950x. I'm Currently using an X99+695x by the way.

For every thing? not worth it... x99 parts are expensive, you'd at best manage a mediocre i7 5820K ~ i7 6800K build which would be about the same as going Ryzen 5 2600 brand new.

absolutely not. Intel stuff right now is super shit.

I can get a 6-core system that matches the i7 8700 for less than half the price.

AMD is trash. Ryzen is trash. Why is RTX so expensive? Lack of competition from AMD in the high end market.

No, I already have a case, cooler, PSU, GPU, etc. Just need CPU, mobo and RAM. It's too bad you didn't read the title or the original post, like, at all.

Stop telling me to "wait" or "get modern hardware". I asked for recommendations for a specific generation, I didn't ask for your opinion on what I should wait for or not. I swear to Satan this happens every goddamn time I ask for older H/W recommendations.

I gave you guidelines for what I'm looking for and literally all of you ignored them.

Looking at the EVGA X99 FTW, seems a good price. The Xeon E5 1650 v3 seems to be like the 5930K as well.

Wrong. Intel right now doesn't even know what to do. AMD is growing in a rate intel is trying to catch up.

If you want an X99 get an Core i7 + X99 from ASUS or Gigabyte. But they're kind of rare

There's nothing wrong with having your own opinion, but facts do point to the fact that AMD has good value. We were just pointing it out and you went batshit crazy that we made suggestions.

New CPU will have much better performance than the X99 platform

Definitely good value, R3 1300x for $99 when the cheapest i3 is still over $100. But for the price to performance...older stuff is still better.

Allow me to correct myself.

Ryzen IPC and maximum theoretical clock is trash, and if Intel and AMD made spec-for-spec models of CPU I guarantee you the AMD CPU would run hotter.

I laid down guidelines for suggestions and they went ignored. I'm not looking for new stuff.

Sure! At a significantly higher cost.

E5 1650 v2 with DDR3 2400 CL11 outperforms i7 8700. Total cost? Like $350. That's the price of the 8700 alone.

5 minutes ago, LukeSavenije said:

well... I won't say I fully disagree with you, but if x99 is the best choise? but opinions may vary...

Probably not, X79 is probably better price to performance. But I want something I can slap an 8/10 core Xeon into later.

The 2011-0 Xeons are cheap as dirt, $100 for a 6-core 12-thread unlocked CPU that'll do 4.6Ghz easily.

I want a Haswell-E board becase it's newer and has AVX2 and FMA2, which I need for some specific things.

Honestly i'm rather buy a Threadripper

ASUS Sabertooth X99 - $190

Intel Xeon E5 1650 v3 - $215

G.Skill Aegis 16gb 2x8gb - $90

Total - $490

Technically I have $550 but this is cutting it close

You're actually greatly mistaken the i7 8700 locked will outperform even the i7 6850K Overclocked which is as high as it goes 6 cores wise on x99, stop lying to yourself just to justify wanting to buy outdated hardware.

Also iGPU on the i7 makes so much sense nowadays that not using it is just silly, hardware acceleration and QuickSync are a real thing.

It makes no sense to pay the high asking price of used Haswell-E and Broadwell-E components, but if you want to just go to ebay and get what it is within you price range.
