You don't have to go 'low end gaming' if you don't mind weight and battery life, for around $800 you can get something with 1050TI like these:

CyberpowerPC Tracer III 15-100 (TongFang GI5CN5E) - low sRGB IPS

Dell G5 (8300H+1050TI) - low sRGB IPS

HP Omen 15-dc0010nr - low sRGB IPS

Lenovo Legion Y530 customzie (8300H+1050TI) - low sRGB IPS (default panel), might need SSD upgrade

Eluktronics NB50TK1 (Clevo NB50TK1) - low sRGB IPS

Look for the Dell G3 or Acer Nitro 5. There are Linustechtips videos on both of them.

Go for a Dell G3 with a i7 and GTX 1060.  Should be great for your use case.  Screen isn't very colour accurate or bright but is fine for gaming.  and it is £1000 just fitting into your budget

1000 £ is much different than 1000 $
