help with fn keys in kali

is there any way to map my fn keys to change the brightness and  sound as well as maximize and minimize browser tabs and possibly switch between workplaces?

in Ubuntu it auto configured but not in kali

 

running an acer chromebook (cb3-111) with modified coreboot bios.

 

im going to let this cook overnight and get some sleep so you might not get a response...

FN keys are a bit tricky, the fact kali is based on debian and uses an old kernel could be the cause

so is there a way to setup a shortcut to pulse audio or will it just not happen?  as well as brightness...

could one write a script to read x value assign to a var then (add or) minus (a number lats say 100) brightness then close and the opposite?

 

and launch when key is pressed  (brightness key in my case) in application shortcuts?
