Monitor downgrade from productivity to gaming.

Turtle Rig

As you can see in my sig,,..... For over 4 years I used a 28" Samsung non led lol 4k monitor.  I need real estate for my DAW.  Anyhow it sux how gaming monitors are not 4k unless their 27".  Which is way to small for 4k alto I used 28" since 4k first came out.  Once I went to 40" my life changed,, its soo damn nice,, I cant imagine sitting behind a 27 or 28" screen ever in my life.

My only gripe is it's 60hz.  If it was 120hz or 144hz I would be happy guy.  I want a 144hz because I like the smooth motion watching utube or movies or just even working on the desktop.  But also I game.. I play Quake Champions so that 144hz would really be nice.  My question is should I downgrade to a gaming monitor or ultra wide.  I don't think the resolution will be good for me and I will be disjointed.  Let me know guru's.  Thanks

I dont see the appeal of 40in monitors but then again my eyesight is fairly decent. At 27in close to me I think it is plenty. I play competitive games on my 24in 240hz 1080p monitor and much prefer the smaller screen in that scenario. If the screen is too big it's hard to see everything at once.

If I had my monitors at a fair distance away from me then I could see myself wanting a bigger monitor but that would be weird to begin with as you start getting into tv territory.

Thanks guys for your input, looks like after 28" or so you lose that competitive gaming edge that Brooksie is talking about.

Yeah there is a reason almost all esports players use 24inch monitors. I wouldn't go above 27in that's for sure.

just so you know https://www.theverge.com/2019/1/6/18170801/hp-omen-x-emperium-nvidia-g-sync-display-release-date-pricing-ces-2019

65in 4k 144hz hdr display. I think they said it cost 5k but if you really want a big display then this is the only option that fits the 40in+ category
