Very confused about Quad and Dual channel RAM

Your motherboard does NOT support quad-channel. Only HEDT platforms like X399/X299 support it, and they usually have 8 RAM slots.

Hi,

I know there are many threads about quad/dual RAMs. I tried to find the answer on my problem, but I can't find it since my question is quite different.

Anyway, I have a processor Intel i5-7500, which should support Dual-channel RAMs (like any other). This lays on MSI B250 Mortar motherboard which should support true quad-channel RAMs.

 

My question is, what will be better for me to use my rig well? Quad or Dual-channel RAMs? I have to remind you that I think I have processor which support only dual channel RAMs on motherboard which supports quad-channel RAMs, so I might failed my buid. O_o

You don't have a motherboard that support quad-channel memory. You have a motherboard that had four DIMM slots in a dual channel configuration.

quad sticks yes, but only dual channel. You can use octa rank though :P
