an ATX or SFX PSU, though for an ATX build going SFX seems like wasting money

You'd need an ATX PSU. SFX would work too but there's no point in buying an SFX PSU since they're made for smaller builds.

Personally I'd recommend the Corsair RM650x. It's a great PSU that should last you a while.

yeah that's what I wanted to do too but I I wasn't sure how much wattage I'll need

650W would work fine, but if you plan on reusing it with a more powerful build 750W might be a good road to go down.

Get a 650W ATX PSU it will be enough even if you upgrade down the line. As for what to get I recommend a well made PSU, something like the EVGA G2 or G3, SeaSonic Focus or Prime series, or the Corsair RMx PSU. All of those are tier 1 or 2 PSU's and will last you a very long time while not putting any of your components in danger.

550 would be enough... at least tier c on the psu tier list down my sig, a is highly recommended.

A good 450W is plenty. Whisper M or Straight Power 11 are available in those wattages.
