probebly a dead slot or something.... contact msi with this I guess...

Hi there!

I just bought some new hardware and i'm getting stuck on something.

The hardware that i bought is:

  • Ryzen 7 2700x
  • MSI x470 gaming pro
  • G.skill DDR4 Aegis 2x8GB 3000M (F4-3000C16D-16GISb) installed at A2 and B2
  • Samsung EVO 970

When i start up windows it says the system has 16 gig of memory but it can only use 8 of it. When i go to my BIOS i see 8192 memory size and 2133 DDR speed.

I've attached a screenshot of this.

What do i need to do to fix this? I've already tried to set the memory to 16 gig in msconfig but that resulted in a blue screen.

Did any of you experienced this as well?

Thanks in advance!

Reseat (pull out and carefully insert) your ram, it is probably poorly mounted, as only one of the 2 sticks shows up.

Then, to get the right speed click the "A-XMP" botton on the top 2 times, if that doesn't work set the right speed and timings manually using the overclocking menu in advanced BIOS. "MSI memory try it" tends to work well.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

It didn't work. I removed them both and even tried one ram but it doens't change anything. You can see the stick in the bios ad DIMMB2 and both of the red lights burn next to it :(

I removed both sticks, placed them back started up and it still gave 8 gigs. After that i tried inserting one by one but it had no effect.

It returned 0 errors. I'm gonna order a new PSU as that comes up alot in google searches (mine is 400W and i can only connect the 8 pin not the 4 pin)

that shouldn't be it... 400 watts is enough and the 4 pin eps only really helps with ln2 overclocking... maybe try and update the bios and chipset drivers?

  • 2 weeks later...

I send the motherboard to MSI and they also said it was broken and send me a new one. They've also tried placing two ddr's in B1 and B2 it wouldn't post at all.

Thanks guys!
