At this point its pretty much the same thing unfortunately and the problem is not just the technology to make such displays it is also the fact that unless you want to spend way to much money it is basically impossible to get very high frame rates at 4k

Well biggest issue I see has been getting the data rates that are needed and nobody having the hardware to really drive a 4k panel at 144Hz.

My guess is once a SLI config that can run UW4K or 6k res we will see 4k monitors being common.

"only 6" less" but it's ultrawide.

So in fact you're also losing a ton of vertical area compared to a 16:9 40" display.

You're right, I guess I'm not big on 4k displays. The fact that LG got IPS to 1ms is cool, to me.

The 1ms response time or whatever that monitors advertise doesn't really mean anything, and every manufacturer comes up with that number with non standardized tests.

Input lag is what matters, and that is something completely different.

Yes my friend but I will lose my 4k.  It would be a God send if DSR didnt mess up the fonts and is only good for gaming.  Imagine getting a gaming monitor and putting it to 4k with crisp fonts everything looking amazing.  DSR is good for games but for desktop its a no no, the fonts are blurry and messed up looking..... I tried 8k res,, was sweet, I couldnt read sh*T tho LOL

That is a big downgrade from 4k res and 40" ...... I swear I will pay 1500 bucks if I can get my hands on a 40" ,, give or take a inch or two, with 4k and ips ultra wide panel hdr  and 144hz.... add a 2080Ti and that is what heaven feels like LOL

Completely depends on the game. I can hit 98 fps easy in bfv with a 2080ti. I don't go higher because you have to keep it at 98hz for HDR10. I could run it at 120hz and probably hit above 100 fps but honestly at 98hz it's good enough to make it very smooth. It's not like I am trying to play competitively so I really don't need 144hz. If I want to play competitively I just play on my 240hz.

The way they decide the size of a panel is kinda random, the first gen had to be 27inch to cut cost, which was the perfect size for me, if you are looking for 144hz, 32 and 40inch may be possible, don't count on it being curved.

SLI can run 144hz, but i pref to just stick with single card, ive been playing metro on 4k 144 before exodus comes out, and it's buttery smooth on high, what most people don't know is, it's possible to force hdr on most games just by enabled it on desktop and playing on windowed, colors look a bit better (i was already using a photoshop monitor and hdr beats that). Overall I'm in the same boat as @Brooksie359 on playing at 4k/98, need 2 more gens of gpus to play 144hz smoothly, not going sli, the port on the monitor also needs to be updated to dp1.4a to run 4k/144 hdr, the panels themselves are already capable.

i'm gonna guess they cost alot to make, and no one's gonna pay 5k for a 40inch, the monitors are originally 2500usd, they had to strip features to make it 1800-2000 usd to make it marketable, i think most users that plan to use it as a monitor have no interest in anything bigger than 32inch, and they wanted to make it smaller to begin with. There is a market for 40+ inch according to what people have been saying about the monitors, but we are probably 2 years away, so is the single gpu power. Monitors tend to be notoriously slow at updating, i had to wait for 10 years for a high gamut high refresh lmao.

The pg27uq. It's the Asus 27in 4k 144hz. You said you want 40in so I don't think it would be core you tbh. It's an amazing monitor though.

Honestly I don't really want a huge monitor tbh. 27in is probably the biggest I would get because I have them pretty close to me.
