1x8 vs 2x4 gb ram

So again the title says it all . But the 1x8 gb stick i have right now is DDR4 2400mhz . Would 2x4 gb sticks be better but they are DDR3 1333mhz ?

Does your board even support DDR3?

You can't use DDR3 in a DDR4 motherboard.

If your system only takes DDR4, then you can't use DDR3.

Otherwise, it doesn't really matter.

And then you need a different CPU as well?

Dude, just stick with what you have.

Right now i have gtx 1050 ti and g4600 and 1x8 gb stick . I will get rid of my motherboard for the cpu and that means i will have to opt for 2x4 sticks . Thats why im asking which is better so if it is a lot worse i will think of different options. ( Im switching my g4600 to i5 4570s )

List all of your system specs for us to get a better idea of "what is better in theory".

in theory the ddr4 platform, because it supports newer chips

but the impact of single vs dual channel is platform related, so we can't say something about that

You probably wouldn't even notice any improvements moving to the i5. Just save up your money and build a fresh system next year or so.

Right now i have msi h110m pro-d / 1x8 gb ddr4 ram and g4600 and a gtx 1050 ti.

The g4600 is causing me severe bottleneck and stuttering so my friend offered me a new motherboard with i5 4570s and ddr3 2x4 gb sticks .

That means i will still have the gtx1050ti .

I think i will because the severe freezes with the pentium . We well test tommorow in his house if the i5 and gtx 1050 ti work better and dont cause freezing like my g4600

It really depends what workload you're throwing at these systems. Just don't set your expectations too high and tone down the game settings (if you're gaming) and you'll be fine.
