Apple's earning revision

US Dollar value? It's doing better than it has in the least 10 or so years, all these excuses are pretty bad.

It's precisely because the US dollar is strong that the company is taking a hit.  That affects sales in other countries as the price goes up in their respective currencies.  Apple wasn't just making these statements out of the blue, you know.

Trade war. American's aren't the only ones that can be patriotic.

Apple are a US company, so they are also the Enemy. Apple products got a pass on the tariffs, but Chinese boycott Apple in solidarity with the rest of the country. People in China buy Apple products for the prestige, but when that becomes associated with US oppression they switch to any number of Chinese brands. Nothing like showing up with a bunch of friends and everyone looks at you like a traitor when you pull out an American phone.

Ehmmmm USA Banned huawei and try to arrest(or extradit from canada) CFO , tell people that huawei are spying (germany says its all ok no spying) pushes to Japan and New Zeland, and you are surprised about low sales on china by an USA company? well this is another chapter of china-USA trading wars.

Or maybe the iPhone is about 2x more expensive than other flagship Chinese phones with not enough extras to justify the cost.

That's not how it works, Apple doesn't sell the iphone in China and India for example, for the equivalent of 1000 USD. It's adjusted. You also aren't taking into affect the strong USD means that their Chinese manufactering is cheaper, as they will cost less USD to cover the cost. USD increase only hurts a US company if they don't know what they're doing.

Umm, that's exactly how it works. A stronger US dollar will absolutely hurt exports. Econ 101. The price in Yuan increases as the US dollar increases in power.

Sorry bro, but if the Yuan is also increased in value, then export sales can't be hurt as much as some is claiming, the price of the Yuan has stayed consistent with the dollar at .14-.16 per dollar

You literally contradicted yourself. Saying exports cost more, with the Yaun growing in value with the USD.

The only market the usd might hurt is Europe and i see no mention of Europe in any of their reports.

The Indian rupee has also increased in value with the dollar. So they aren't making less money there through check exchange.

Apple is clearly blowing smoke because they don't want to admit their products aren't as compelling as they once were, especially considering the cost. Other markets don't fall for Apple kind of branding like Americans do

It's important to note that Apple mainly blamed the iPhone sales shortfall on China, so it's hard to say that this is some broader rejection of Apple's strategy.  It did note slower sales in "developed markets" but suggested those weren't nearly as large a factor.

What's interesting to me is that Apple suggested its recent iPhone trade-in program wasn't the only thing it would do to fuel sales.  I'm not expecting it to cut prices, but I could see it bundling things (say, a free case), ramping up marketing, maybe getting more aggressive with included storage levels.

I mean, my cousin used to sell BMWs. It's crazy how a 5 dollar hat and key chain can make someone feel like they are getting a deal. Free cases and other cheap accessories will work.

It would be nice if Apple will axe the NVME SSD on the MacBook Air and just use the slower SATA SSD, which is still significantly faster than a spinning hard drive. This will make purchasing a MacBook Air more justifiable.

Also, I hope Apple brings back the Fusion Drive option to the base model Mac mini.

Fusion drives was two drives, pretty much an sshd but faster. Maybe with an M2 and a 2.5? Hard to find the space through.

Im looking for waterproof AirPods. That would be very cool!

No he's right, the stronger the US dollar the more in Yuan a US product will cost.   That happened when the 2008 GFC hit and the Aussie dollar over took the US, all of a sudden we could buy US products much cheaper, but then as the US regained it's strength the cost for us (in A$) to buy US products went up.
