If the prices are the same, go for the Samsung. Otherwise the WD is likely more than sufficient.

Do you really need NVMe though? I'd just get a SATA drive if they're cheaper. If you're just upgrading, wait a couple months for the prices to drop.

Samsung hands down makes the best SSDs in existence to my knowledge. That said, I have a WD Black NVMe and it's about the same as peep's 970 Evos I compared with, one was faster on reads, one was faster on writes, about equal overall. Get whichever is cheaper.
