anyway to change the way the bsod looks

Bonzilink

on windows 8, they introduced a non jarring, user friendly bsod. but on windows 7 to windows 2000, it had a bsod that looks outdated, confusing to non tech users, and scary. anyway to change the bsod around windows xp, vista, and 7?

No; it's a core part of the kernel designed to be simple and therefore will "always work". The added niceness on windows 8+ is due to their embracing of UEFI which adds niceness without added complexity from the kernel side of things. This is similar to how Apple has been able to display cute/informative crash menus for about 10 years (they use the original EFI spec for their systems).

Even if you modified the binaries, it would result in programs failing and possibly Windows itself even failing to load due the binary failing an integrity check.

Can't imagine changing the looks of a BSOD.  No matter what it looks like, the end result is the same.  Blue Screen of Death and you're screwed.

Considering how outdated most of those OS' are, I wouldn't even bother. Just have Win10 to all, and change color theme so you can have it in all rainbow colors and black or white.

And XP and Vista aren't getting any security updates. Be sure to mention this to your clients if you are doing this professionally.
