Will PCIE NVME Adapter Give me back my sata ports

Hi , I have a motherboard with multiple PCIE Slots but only a single M.2 Slot , it seems when using the M.2 slot with a 970evo drive i loose 2/6 SATA ports , will using a PCIE adapter help avoid this. Will a raid card help.
