Is it safe to leave fans off at idle at 55C?

xg32

The last 2 gpus i've used have had fan problems, thinking about just leaving the fans off, if i leave them at 25% it idles at 40C.

a fans lifespan has little to do with if it's spinning or not.

meaning it can run at 100% just as long as it can at 25% , it's an electric fan , anything under 100% it's made to do.

the only thing that will kill off a fan early is running it at 25% and not cleaning it ever. when they run slower they accumulate dust faster

I set my MSI Afterburner to not run my fans until the GPU reaches 60c, then bump them to 40% until 80c. I've never seen my 1070 above 65c, but if by some miracle they hit 80c, it then jumps to 100%. I've only used these settings recently, but it seems fine. I may tweak it come the summer months.
