How does HDMI IN work on an AIO

Ssiss

Hi.

I am buying a HP envy 27-b. The current version of the all in one.

It has a HDMI IN port and I was wondering how it works in terms of, does it switch the computer off when using it?

If you put in a hdmi cable between the hdmi out and hdmi in, would it still display the aio monitor on the hdmi in?

Reason why I'm asking is because I'm getting an egpu and wondering if I can plug it into the hdmi in and use it as an external display.

HDMI in lets you use the AIO as an external display for a laptop or another desktop.

I would imagine the computer part stays running, but I'm not completely sure.

When you said AIO my brain went to aio cpu coolers.  I thought, wow ppl are putting big lcd screens on their aio pump now? lol

Yeah the hdmi in on an aio computer is so you can use it as just a monitor for displaying signal from some other computer.

Asus makes AIO coolers with OLED screens on the pump.

I've even seen some devices use the same plug as HDMI for their proprietary power connection. Stuff will have gone boom due to this confusing choice I reckon :D
