Moving Windows 10 to SSD without re-installation of Windows?

Hey everyone,

I am still learning things about PC hardware, and one of those things is how to move Windows 10 to my SSD.

I have looked at other threads and videos, and I saw people recommending to use Macrium Reflect to transfer everything over to the SSD. But, my hard drive is holding 1 TB of storage, and my new SSD can hold 500 GB.

Also, I bought a prebuilt workstation, meaning that I can't just reinstall Windows 10.

Is there any way to just move Windows 10 on to my SSD, then go from there?

Thanks!

How full is your hard drive

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k (won) - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Linux Proliant ML150 G6:

Dual Xeon X5560 - 24GB ECC DDR3 - GTX 750 TI - old Seagate 1.5TB HDD - dark mode Ubuntu (and Win7, cuz why not)

How many watts do I need? Seasonic Focus thread, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Ok, unfortunatly  the HDD is to full to clone onto the SSD, what i would do is back up as much as you can, until you get way under 500GB used, then i reccomend geting a USB to Sata adapter and clone the drive.

So I cleared off my hard drive to the point where only 407 GB of storage is on there. Is this safe enough for me to transfer my files onto my 465 GB SSD? And if so, can I just use Macrium?

because you can clone over usb but depending on the HDD's speed it might take a while to transfer that amount of data

Tbh I just don't feel like making another trip to the store to buy a usb cable, so I was wondering if I could just use macrium.
