Well.... technically either would work, but the Z370 is incapable of supplying the power necessary for the 9700l to reach it's max potential.

It's not true. I run Z370 Aorus gaming 7 with 9700K @ 5 GHz just fine.

 

Used it for 2 months before I changed to Aorus Master and honestly, I don't notice any difference.

 

I kind of regret my decision actually.

i bought 9700k and maximus code and my programs say it runs at 4.9/5ghz

Same here. i7 9700k running on ASRock Z370 Pro 4. Stable 5Ghz all core overclock. I was a bit worried myself about not having a Z390.

 

OP make sure you get the latest bios if you go Z370, so it supports 9th gen.

boost clock is 4.9 right? now for some reason i get 4.6, does the update give me it all? checked a few days ago and it said 4.9. Cause the boost should be active when get it out of the box right? the multiplier is at 46 and not 49 as it should?

Yea, but you might need to increase the power settings on your CPU to get the full speed. This is a decent guide.

z390 and still the 8700k...future proofing with core's...that cpu is still 8thrd...

That's still a better cpu...

 

If I ever get stability in CB with the 2600x...leave at 4.3 but the sucker freezing on me sometimes....
