The Great Kamek

You can install them anywhere since they don't need to be secured because there are no moving parts. I usually just use the SSD brackets though.

The case manual suggest that I use the screws if I install them on the tray

i have 2 SSD's mounted with 2 screw each in their brackets.

with SSD's it doesn;t really matter where you put them. lots of people who are on a budget just use double sided tape ;)

and HDD?

You should use these ones:

You'll probably have to remove the four screws to install them though. But, you can literally just slap some double-sided tape on an SSD and mount them anywhere.

It really doesn't matter.

For the HDD use the ones on the bottom:

These ones you just need to use the four pins to secure the HDD in place.

i don't use any HDD's personally, i only have SSD storage.

HDD's have moving parts in them tough, so i highly recommend using the proper brackets and screws for those.

Will heat affect them as much?

Nah, you'll be fine. The back of the Motherboard doesn't get hot at all. Also, AFAIK SSDs actually prefer hotter temperatures.
