Confusion on Dual Monitors

jiyeon

Hi, so my brother just got dual monitors set up, specifically:

  • Main gaming monitor - Acer KG221Q powered by Gigabyte GTX 1050 Ti
  • Secondary monitor - AOC E2270 powered by Ryzen 3 2200G Vega 8 APU

I'm confused as to how this would affect gaming performance since one monitor is using the GTX 1050 Ti and one is using the 2200G Vega 8 APU, so I tested this just now using Rocket League and Cinebench's OpenGL benchmark:

Rocket League - Exhibition, 4v4, DFH Stadium

  • GTX 1050 Ti: 123-150FPS
  • GTX 1050 Ti + Vega 8: 125-148FPS

OpenGL

  • GTX 1050 Ti: 80FPS
  • GTX 1050 Ti + Vega 8: 78 FPS

The way I configured it was by going to the ASRock BIOS and setting 'Primary display' to internal graphics rather than external graphics.

Is there anything wrong with how I have set up my brother's dual monitors?

Both GPUs are detected in Task Manager:

there isn't anything wrong here. the graphics are individually ran, not always depending where it's connected, sometimes the gpu is pre-set to the 1050 ti.

Yes, but I wanted a quicker 'right now' alternative, so I ended up with this confusion of a dual monitor setup. I also don't have any DP cables around and the Acer KG221Q doesn't even support DP.

Buy a DP-HDMI or HDMI-DP on amazon. That would take a few days to get to you and under $30
