PC Monitor Issue

So my PC's LG 21" Monitor just died I think, so when I start up my PC it shows my BIOS menu for a few seconds then starts to fade then all visuals are completely gone but if I turn all the lights off I can still see some visuals, is there anything I can do or do any of you guys have an answer, already bought a new one but it's my friends old monitor, don't wane give him a broken one back, just some clarity please
