2nd Monitor problem

I got an old asus monitor to use as my second monitor but its only port was vga and my gpu doesnt have vga port.So i bought an adapter from vga to dvid but when i plug the second monitor first one goes black and the second one lights up but its flickering.Any solution?

I have had problems with a second monitor before.

Solved it by putting the second monitor on the onboard gpu.

Wait can i have 2 monitors one running on onboard graphics and the other from the gpu??I thought that wasnt possible

You can. Some need to be turned on in the bios. Some turn on automatically.
