LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

I own the edifier 1280t and I personally enjoy them. Don't get me wrong, I'm no super-audiophile and these are the only bookshelf speakers I own, so I don't have much to compare with, but for me personally, I think these sound great. Bass is present in songs (though not as present as compared to a setup that has a subwoofer, but then again, 2.0 vs 2.1). The mids and highs are pretty clear and don't sound muddled (again, to me as I can't compare it to anything else really). In short, I'm sure there are way better bookshelf speakers (jbl 305 comes to mind) but for $100, I think they are completely worth it. They have knobs for bass, treble, and volume on the side, so if you think there's way too much bass, or not enough treble, you can play around with those, though, I don't use them much but I can't say really hearing much of a big difference in bass/treble when I did use those knobs.

Some other suggestions Micca mb42x was one that was suggested to me, the polk audio... Can't remember the model number though...
