Planning first build and need advice

Baileybrat

So I am planning my first build and I have no idea where to start. I have been looking at parts for days now and am so overwhelmed with information. I want to play games like dirt rally and pretty much any racing game. I dont really have a budget other than I would like to keep it as far under 1000 as possible. I can just save money and spread the build out over time. The end result I am looking for is to do a 3 monitor set up on a dedicated chassis simulator tpye setup. If I need ot stay on a table top for a bit with one monitor then that is fine also. my main budget is for the tower, the other stuff i can do later. I have no parts to bring over to the build.  Everyhting I own is old 2 core stuff. the case can be a basic case as it will not be seen anyway. I am trying ot do this as budget freindly as possible

Thank you

P.S. I will be running this on Windows 10 but buying windows 10 is also not part of the budget

Okay. Racing games are generally not too demanding, so we should be able to spec out a PC for you fairly easily. Is the 1000 (USD I assume) budget only covering the tower, or do you also want monitors included? What about other peripherals, like a keyboard, mouse, or racing wheel?

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

For a budget build, start off by taking advice from here, and change as you see fit.

Use PCPartPicker to configure your build.

The more details on your use cases, the better.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

Why don't you think the monitor will cut it? At that price-point, you'll probably be running at 1080p.

And you said you needed 3 monitors? All for under 1000USD?

SOrry ofr the confusion. No the budget is just for the tower. If I can run through my flatscreen tv on hdmi  then that is what I want to do for now

I think the consensus is clear. GPU is pretty much how far you can afford.

Thank you for all the help. Sorry if this sounds dumb but I have never had a computer with an added graphics card. Will upgrading these systems later be just putting in a better graphics card?

Like i wont need to replace the CPU or ram or motherboard or anything?

most likely yes, but if you do need to upgrade the cpu, on am4 you wont need to change the motherboard or anything else.
