Should I upgrade my CPU, or GPU

I have a PC with a FX-6350 CPU, and a RX-460 GPU. I was wondering what I should replace. I have about $450 to spend on upgrades. Take into account that if I upgraded my CPU, I would also have to get new RAM, and a new motherboard. I'm mainly looking for improvements with gaming.

I would probably go CPU first. Your GPU will be a limiting factor when you do so, but at that point it's easier since the hard part is done. What are the rest of your system's specifications?

Depending on what you do with your PC, I would consider something such as the following:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
Type Item Price
CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor $159.99 @ Amazon
Motherboard Gigabyte - B450 AORUS ELITE ATX AM4 Motherboard $98.98 @ Newegg
Memory G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $129.89 @ OutletPC
Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts
  Total $388.86

However, it depends on what you're doing. You may not have a need for 16GB RAM or six cores.

Not sure how good the cooler on this particular GPU is so I'll let others chime in on that part

The cooler is fine, though not the best (but that doesn't really matter, it gets the job done well enough.) I gotta say, I didn't think RX 5xx prices would calm down this much.

Go with either of the list above, you will thank yourself in the long run getting on a current/modern platform. If you really want to save some money get a Ryzen 5 1600 (if they are still available)  to save even more money. That way you could use the rest down the road to get a better graphics card. Which is even better if AMD comes out with competitive GPU's

RX4xx prices were a lot lower than that for a while before the mining craze ... RX480 4GB cards were <$140 US on occasion!
