Really at that point everyone untrained has the same reaction time, just chance of luck.

that's normal. Human response time to a new stimulus is typically about that- it's not the minimum time to know something, pilots could identify jets shown for one frame at over 250 or something hz, it's just the time to see an input and decide to make action from a resting state. Also, clicking a mouse button is surprisingly slow.

If you are trying to catch something and it moves/changes course or something, or maybe aiming down your sight in an fps game, your reaction time is much faster. It's a continued stimulus and you're adjusting your current action- micro movements to correct are way faster. For reference 1 frame at 60 fps is a little over 16ms. But seeing a new player and deciding to react? probably wont get much faster than that.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

actually you can your train response time. top 100m sprinters can have response time as short as 150ms or so, and so there's a rule stating that if you launching within a certain time, like 100ms or whatever, counts as a false start.  (sauce)

why everybody post the spec of their rig here? i dont! cuz its made of mashed potatoes!

use a tool that measures click speed and click your mouse fast as you can, but using your normal grip and notice how it's close to the reaction time in the other test. Lol. It's the action of clicking that takes a bit to initiate. Usually about 150ms max between clicks without changing your grip

Let’s see... when I say go you say got it!

Ready?

GO!

.....

you could just react to things and you’ll naturally get faster.

Rubbish, you're just not fast enough.

Be like me, lurk here all day every day, you'll do just fine. :D

I just took the online version where you click when it turns green.. I had a few under 180 and one that was 320 so it made my average 223 after it was all said and done.

Honestly, i think the difference is very small anyways.

I'm avaraging 242, and had 70 ms at the last one. so you have more to compare

I wonder how much difference a nice mouse will make. Using this crappy HP mouse atm, so wonder if my m65 would make a difference.

I just think there are a ton of variables here and that the test probably aren't that reliable anyways lol.

Yeah that’s the one I took, I got a few at about 60ms but that was pure luck and I clicked when I felt it was gonna pop up, but what I said above is what my actual response time was

Not much because I tried it with an HP mouse and another with a touchscreen (with my finger about half an inch away)

Depends. It usually depends on the person's ability to react quickly with the mouse they have. When I upgraded from my crappy old 90s generic office mouse to a Steelseries Rival 700 my reaction time got much better.

I have a Corsair Scimitar mouse now and my average reaction time was 0.3554 according to https://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/java/redgreen.html
