Building PC for WORK at HOME | Heavy Multi Tasking

Hi,

I am planning to build a PC for work. Mostly I will have to run the simulators and emulators for mobile app development (Virtual Box, XCode, Android Studio etc). Also I need to work on many other development tools which include working with huge spreadsheet files. I will not be doing Video editing. I am not interested in gaming. Consider as basic entry level gamer. Below is the parts list I am thinking of. Please suggest changes/improvements.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING

RAM: GSKILL F4 3200MHZ DESKTOP RAM RIPJAWS V SERIES 4 X 8GB

MEMORY: SAMSUNG 970 EVO 250GB M.2 NVME INTERNAL SSD

CABINET: CORSAIR SPEC 3(ATX) MID TOWER CABINET

PSU: CORSAIR CX650M SMPS

GPU: ASUS GRAPHIC CARD GT 1030 2GB DDR5 PHEONIX OC EDITION

This is my first CPU build. Not interested in overclocking and liquid cooling systems. For storage I already have around 1TB HDD.

Please help.

Not sure if you need all those cores, but I'm using the 2600X and I'm in web development (running lots of programs at once, and running local servers) and it does it all just fine with lots of room to spare. I say this because if you don't need the 2700X (it's not noticeably faster), then I would get the 2600X and use leftover money for a better GPU, even though you're not gaming, it can come in handy at times. If you can afford a better GPU and the 2700X then by all means, I think you should get a better one either way..

The extra cores are nice for VMs though.

You might want to get an additional HDD to run them in a mirrored configuration, unless you're working off a server or NAS. Other than that I don't see any problems with your choice of parts.
