Weird ASUS motherboard voltages

laushik

I have a question; When overclocking my i7 6700k on the PRIME Z270-A Why do my voltages go up or down in increments of 0.016v? Is this normal? Why can it not use the voltage that I entered in the bios?

Currently I have set my voltage at 1.33v for a 4.6GHZ overclock. However, windows and the BIOS report it as 1.328v. My voltages go up or down by 0.016v, e.g 1.312v, 1.328v, 1.344v, 1.36v, etc. Lets say I put voltages at 1.355v, then it will automatically go to the closest increment which in this case would be 1.36v.

HERE ARE THE SETTINGS OF MY BIOS (Except voltage is at 1.33v): https://youtu.be/gZe26lv7lJ4

Most motherboards are either .001v, .005v, or .00625v increments. Kind of weird that yours would be .016. When was the last time you update the BIOS?

This is actually an upgrade from an old motherboard. This motherboard is one week old and I updated the bios as soon as I got it.

Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it too much. As long as the voltage adjusts, and doesn’t go way too high. You can try turning up your LLC, but I wouldn’t go more than 1-2 below the highest for a daily OC
