Bad fps with r5 1600

Right so people get 250fps on fortnite with low settings with r5 1600, I get like 200max,often not even that. In tilted I get like 90 to 110 ish. Any ideas

?

Complete specs - and a CPU isn't the only driving force in the FPS.

Gtx 1060, but it's always on like 70%, I'm also playing on 1440x1080, got 2x4 2800mhz ddr4.

Overclock your CPU to like 3900mhz at 1.3-1.35V

What motherboard?

3.7ghz but I get same results at 3.9ghz and yes my memory is on d.o.c.p (xmp for amd) at 2800mhz.

FPS is not indicative (in this situation especially) of a failing PSU.

 

Your rig is okay - and you are getting 200 FPS - while others get 250 - with the same CPU - but are their mobo and GPU better?  What resolution are they playing at?

Same gpu, my res is worse, no idea about the mobo. And no, in tilted I get like 90 to 110, while they get like 180+. And correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a mobo could do that much of an fps impact.

Higher the Resolution - less impact to the CPU (more work for the GPU, there are more pixels to fill).  Lower the resolution, harder the CPU has to work.  In the end that's a good CPU, and its good enough for those frames for sure.  I bet those streamers you are watching have a better GPU for the higher resolutions.

Your resolution - which is not even 2k - requires your CPU to work harder than the GPU.  That's called Lower Resolution = EATING UP YOUR CPU

Your GPU, because you are at a LOW RESOLUTION - isn't having to work as hard, because there are only 1440x1080 Pixels to fill up, not 2560x1440 or 4k resolution worth of pixels.  Its only going to work as hard as it needs to, no harder.

 

My resolution is 1600x900, I prefer it that way.  My CPU has to work its butt off compared to @ 2k.  WHere my GPU has to take over and drive from there (being the most ulitized)

Also, need specs of what you are comparing to. (exact specs)

Additionally, bad FPS can be caused by an unstable CPU OC.

Not trying to yell - what I am trying to get across is that - Your Lower resolution is causing your CPU to have to work a lot harder, than those at higher resolution.

This is somewhat incorrect.  If R5 1600 can generally spit out ~250FPS, lowering resolution will not make it slower, it just wont go any faster.

 

You would get ~250FPS at any resolution where the GPU is not the limit.

Incorrect.  But ok -

 

CPU sets the frame up + handles all the AI/resource allocation and then passes the parameters to the GPU which then draws the frame. So the CPU does its thing sends the frame along to the GPU. The larger the frame and the more processing required the longer it takes for the GPU to finish. At low resolutions the frames are drawn much much faster therefore the CPU has to do alot more work setting up more frames.

No, it is correct.

 

If you become CPU bound, reducing resolution just maintains the same FPS.  I have PLENTY of old rigs on which I have run tests that confirm this.

I don't have to argue with you, people smarter than you and I wrote this up.  I mean, he hasn't given us his CPU usage has he?  Which probably isn't pegged out.
