I was planning to upgrade from my ancient S5. But at these prices, there is no way in hell. I hate the way they are integrating notches and cameras into the screen. It seems like something I would never be able to get used to seeing.

Take the prices with a grain of salt. The poster just converted the EU currency to USD which isn't how it works. Normally the USD Pricing will be very similar to that of the EU. So if something is 700EU chances are it will be 749-799 USD. This has been the case for electronics for a good while now, so don't let those prices get you all worked up

If the screen is just moved down and it is a second screen just for your notifications and other things as pictured below, then apps don't need to be redesigned and none of your screen will be "cut off". 1/4 of an inch of a "bezel" with that second screen to be able to not have a 'notch' impede your screen is a good idea imo.

The Lite version looks perfect! As long as this is true. The others are just way to expensive (also too big imo)

If this is actually the case then this is the only notch like phone I would consider.

I don't mind notches, and don't really notice it half the time. But I can tell you know that the punch holes on the screen would drive me insane. It isn't centered (maybe), and looks like a big zit. This may change if I was using it myself, but idk.

This is also pre retailer/telco deals. So in most cases you can get another $150-350 off.

If it says £799 that doesn't mean $1000 or so. It means probably $799 to $899 at most.

 

Really tired of people not understanding how UK pricing works. UK price contains VAT and American prices don't account for sales tax.

And here i am sitting with my beloved nexus 5 which BTW does EVERYTHING i need from the phone. I am just loughing my ass off seeing how these companies rip off money from EVERYONE for + 64 GB and + 1/2/3 camera. :D

I never really understood the yearly or even bi yearly upgrade thing.  I get phones when they are needed or my old one quite literally is dead.  I ran on my S3 for ages until my current S8+.  Replaced the battery once on it and loved it.

This is akin to saying "why would anyone buy a Mercedes?  All you need are four wheels, a motor and a steering wheel.  Anyone who doesn't just buy the cheapest car they can is stupid."

 

It's not whether or not it can do the basics.  It's how well it does the things you want it to do.  And please, stop presuming that you speak for everyone else.  My phone is my work tool, my camera when I can't bring my mirrorless (which is most of the time), my media player, my communication hub... I'm happy to pay good money for something that helps in all of those categories.

XD ).

I don't care for a notification LED, If I get a notification I don't care what it is, just what it says - have all emails and texts go to one phone all important.
